Let’s be honest — I had absolutely no business attempting a sew-in 4 hours before my shift, but here we are. 😭
Welcome to my new series, She’s Doing Hair Again, where I test my patience, edges, and styling skills for the sake of the aesthetic. This time, I tried installing a full sew-in including a closure from the beauty supply and… whew. Let’s just get into it.

🌀 The Process (aka the Chaos)
I started with 3 bundles from Soprano Beauty Elements – Brazilian Curly in lengths 18, 16, 14 with a 12-inch closure.
Did a braid-down that was… not that bad actually, and it held!
Used a couple of sewing needles interchangeably and BROWN thread for the install (use thread that’s a shade lighter or darker than your hair for an easy takedown, IYKYK).
I know it’s highly recommended to have a weaving net to reduce tension and increase the longevity of an install. Unfortunately, this was last minute, and I forgot to grab a weaving net while I was in the store.
Let’s just say: it was giving “I tried my best,” but the result kind of ate.
The Transformation:
Not too shabby for a 4-hour beginner install, right? 👀
Products I Used/Recommend:
🛠️ Here’s everything I used to make the magic happen:
Most of these items I found at my local beauty supply, but here are some online links for the items I used or something similar for convenience ☺️
- Bundles: Soprano Beauty Elements – Find A Supplier Near You
- Needle & Thread: Generic Brand
- Edge Control: Style Factor Edge Booster
- Lace Spray: EbinWonder Lace Bond Adhesive Spray (Active)
- Hot Comb: Red by Kiss
- Edge Brush + Rat Tail Comb: Generic Brand
Click any of the links above if you want to try them too (some are affiliate 💜)
What I’d Do Differently:
Because I’m always honest over here:
- I’d start way earlier next time (lesson learned)
- I would 10000% bleach the knots on the closure and cut more lace off
- Braid smaller in front so that it’s easier to lay down the closure
👀 Would I Recommend?
If you’re thinking about trying this style or product, here’s my real opinion:
🟣 Hair Quality: 8, it was affordable hair, AND it lasted me a month and a half
🟣 Ease of Install: 5
🟣 Would I Use It Again? Maybe, if my procrastination starts acting up again and I need a quick fix 😅
Bottom line: It gave what it needed to give. But this lifestyle ain’t for the faint of heart.
If you’ve ever done your own install at the most chaotic time imaginable, we twins & don’t play with youuuu 😂
